Breast Reduction

Breast Reduction

Breast Reduction removes excess breast fat, glandular tissue, and skin to achieve a breast size in proportion with your body and to alleviate physical and emotional discomfort associated with overly large breasts. Insurance coverage may be available for breast reduction surgery.

You may be a good candidate for Breast Reduction if you have:

  •  Breasts that are too large in proportion to your body frame
  • Heavy, pendulous breasts with nipples and areolas that point downward
  • One breast that is much larger than the other
  • Back, neck, or shoulder pain caused by the weight of your breasts
  • Skin irritation beneath your breasts
  • Indentations in your shoulders from tight bra straps
  • Restricted physical activity due to the size and weight of your breasts
  • Dissatisfaction or self-consciousness about the largeness of your breasts

Your breast size, shape, and desired amount of reduction will help determine the best design, technique, and incisions for your procedure. The incision will be around the areola with a vertical extension to the breast crease. An extra horizontal incision underneath the breast may be needed.
