Botox® is a popular non-surgical injection that temporarily reduces or eliminates frown lines, forehead creases, crow’s-feet near the eyes, and thick bands in the neck. Botox® blocks the nerve impulses, temporarily relaxing the muscles that cause wrinkles while giving the skin a smoother, more refreshed appearance.
Botox® treatments are ideal for treatment of forehead wrinkles, the furrows between the eyes, and crow’s-feet around the eyes. Studies have also suggested that Botox® is effective in relieving migraine headaches and excessive sweating of the armpits. The treatment of wrinkles with Botox is highly effective and lasts approximately 3-4 months. Repeated injections every four months are very common.
In order to decrease possible bruising, patients who take vitamin E, aspirin, or anti-inflammatory medications should stop using those items for 2 weeks prior to receiving a Botox treatment.
