Men Chin Reduction or Enlargement

Chin Augmentation

Chin Augmentation (mentoplasty), or chin enlargement, reshapes the chin with an implant.  If you have a recessive chin, an implant placed under the skin can create a stronger, more defined chin, make your chin wider, or slightly lengthen your face to achieve a more well-proportioned appearance.  Conversely, Chin Reduction surgery will make the jaw appear less prominent in profile.  Both men and women use these procedures to help achieve better proportion between the chin and the rest of the face. Chin Surgery may also be recommended if you are having Nose Surgery, since the size of your chin may magnify or minimize the perceived size of your nose.

If you have a mildly weak chin and normal function of your jaw, Chin Augmentation with an implant may be right for you.  If you have used temporary soft tissue fillers to achieve a stronger chin, this procedure offers a permanent solution. For Chin Enlargement Surgery, an incision is made and the implant is secured in place either by creating a pocket or affixing it to soft tissue or bone along the lower jaw.  Solid silicon implants can be placed through a small incision under the chin or inside the mouth. Usually the entire operation takes about one hour, unless additional procedures are being performed in the same surgery.
