Laser Liposuction is a new procedure that uses a single laser fiber, introduced into the body through a small tube, to melt away fat deposits and tone the body. Laser liposuction also appears to tighten the skin.
Men or women who have localized deposits of fat around the hips, saddle bag thighs, inner thighs, buttocks, love handles around the waist, or extra fat around the tummy are candidates for laser liposuction.
In this minimally-invasive procedure, a tiny probe containing a laser fiber is inserted directly into the targeted fat deposit. The energy from the laser destroys the fat cells but has virtually no effect on surrounding tissue. The entire laser liposuction process usually takes about an hour for each targeted area and can be performed under local anesthesia. The use of the laser ensures a nearly painless procedure, with minimal scarring.
Recovery typically requires only one or two days, with very little discomfort. You will wear a support garment for few weeks to reduce swelling. Most swelling will disappear after three weeks. You will need to avoid strenuous activity for about one month.
